i own a 86 g/n and just started having problems with my trans..i played around with the kick down cable to get a firmer shift and now shes having a hard time going into second gear.. ok so i put the kick cable back to where it was and no change.. its still doing this.. did i mess something up? what could be wrong?

Try giving the TV Cable several quick jerks with Engine idling, R,D,2,1 Parking Brake on, Wheels chocked.
TV plunger or TV valve may be sticking/binding.
