Im here in Germany ! Leave here at 5am Sat morning (I'm 7 hours ahead of St Louis)...for a week in Italy, hitting Venice first, then Rome, Capri, Pompei, Vatican City.. then Florence. Spent today at Ramstein AFB... my mom's house is in a little villiage Kollweiler....which is close Saarbrucken...close to the France border.

WOULD LOVE TO DRIVE MY GN ON THE AUTOBAHN ! ! ! !

Hope everyone is having a great weekend !

You suck...Germany is awesome!! LOL

Venice will probably be stinky with the summer heat.

Have fun I always wanted to have a TR over there with pro touring suspension, big brakes and 2: something rearend gear.

Awesome!

When you get to Florence, Go about 20 minutes North to Mugello and take a peek at the Ferrari F1 Test Track. The gate to get in is a giant helmet. Beautiful country up there. Then stop in Borgo San Lorenzo for some damn good food. If you can find Tre Fumi Hotel (right outside of Borgo) the family that owns the hotel have a restaurant. Best food I have had in interior Italy.

Dan

P.s the track is in the middle of the empty countryside. Unbelievable to see a massive structure like that out in the middle of nowhere.

I triple dog dare somebody to ask gngal how early she shows up for her departing flights

At least I can say I was prepared ! ROLF ! ! !

So, thanks tb3 for making sure EVERYONE knows.. I still have a little blonde in there some where! LOL ! Love you guys ! ! !

Rome: was great, food sucks, dont take taxi's there a rip-off very expensive and alway seem to find the long route. Plus they have a very good transit system.

Vatican City: is in Rome plan on spending about 4-6 hrs there great place a lot to see, well worth it.

Pompei: was great dont pay for the tour just get the radio guide, best food i had the whole time I was in Italy was this little restaurant across the street form the entrance to Pompei city, you cant miss it has oranges and lemons hanging from the roof, great lasagna and Piazza. also get the mixed lemon/orange drink they sell and dont forget to get a bottle of lemon chelo.

Mount Vesuvius: since your already going to Pompei I would suggest stopping at Mount Vesuvius this the volcano the destroyed Pompei, only way up is to climb were comfortable shoes.

Capri: was very beautiful, very nice wife got some custom sandals made.

Sorrento: Since your going to Capri stop by Sorrento great little town with a lot of high end shops (Prada, Gucchi, etc...) you can catch a ferry to Capri from Sorrento.

Napels: was a dump looked worst then Down Town Los Angels, looked like nothing but crooks.

Always order off the menu with set prices or you will get the surprise, the $19 chicken and pasta, is now tonights special and custom made for you and when you get the check its $49:eek:

here is a pic i took of the Trevi Fountain at night

Venice was nice. I was in Italy for a while in the 80's with the military. Went there on one of the few days we had off and were allowed to travel. I had been eating with the Italian military for so long that when I came across a Wendy's there I jumped for joy. That was a good burger. :D

Any WORKER STRIKES going on in Italy currently?

When I was there many many moons ago for 3 months with my Gramparents, I HATED it.

They close everything in afternoon & go back to work at 4pm.
I finnaly figured out why they took the afternoon off! to HUMP while the kids were in school :D

The only thing I liked was the FOOD & that was it.

The factory is in Maranello. You can go to the museum and restaurant, but no factory tour. You have to contact a dealer and have them make an appointment. It also helps if you own an F-car. Otherwise the waiting list can be.....well, you're just no going to get a factory tour.

I might be able to pull a string or two, but I need a lot of notice.

Also, Italy basically shuts down for the entire month of August. It's party time. I have to order all of my parts now, or else I have to wait until September 6th.

Went through Como a few months ago. The food in Italy is great. Don't forget to try gelato. They have all kinds of flavors. WATCH OUT DRIVING! They are CRAZY drivers. Even walking you need to look every which way twice or you'll be a hood ornament (a nice one :D). In Lake Maggiore, my wife bought a nice leather pocketbook. It was only $27 Euro. Around here it would have been $100 or more. Have fun, watch out for the Italian ass pinchers.

+1 on that Pronto.

Also watch out for motorscooters. They outnumber cars 10-1.

Keep an eye out for some cool cars.

(original) Fiat 500 - smalles car I have ever seen
Citroen wagon - longest car I have ever seen
$10 says you don't see any F-Cars or Lambo's.
$500 says you don't see a Ford F150

Update

here is a pic i took of the Trevi Fountain at night

Just got back to the hotel from the Trevi Fountain, it was great !

Don't forget to try gelato.

First thing I did... Chocolate Gellato... AMAZING !

Yeah, saw tons and tons of motorcycles... even a little sidewalk gas station for them. Pretty cool. Saw a few Fiat 500's... almost mistook it for an original mini minor. No F's or lambos.. yet.. but a pretty stealthy rolls royce. And definately NO fords.

Hope everyone is well.. Im having a great time.. two more days in Rome.. then off to the south. Got to run and get ready for dinner. Hope everyone is having a great week.
