Hello,

Changed Spark plug-Autolite gap .032; Spark Plug Wire AC Delco 616F.

Now I get high idle around 1400 even after warmed up to 170'

TPS. 44
IAC: 00

Can the spark plug or wires cause high idle.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere bud . Might have hit a vacuum line when swapping plugs

Disconnect the orange wire at the battery for a minute. Maybe that will reset the computer. If that doesn't work, I would remove the iac and spray it with carb/throttle body cleaner to clean off the black carbon. Also spray out the hole it screws into. Iac counts shouldn't be 00.

Adjusting the IAC screw seems to have fixed it. TPS is now a bit off down to .37 and will adjust this weekend.

Some of the hose were not as tight but adjusting those did not help.

I'm suspecting the new plugs and wire may have thrown off the IAC/TPS. Keep you posted if the adjustments to the IAC/TPS is the permanent fix.

Thx,

Most likely the old spark plugs and wires were bad. This caused the engine to have difficulty in idling. Hence the opening of the TB blades to compensate.

Now that the plugs are firing as they should a high idle results. Once the IAC is at 0 steps, it can't bring the idle any lower.
