136k + with only valve springs and timing chain replaced on the engine.
3rd transmission
Original rear with just pinion seal and fluid change.

Bought new in July 1986, BEAT THE HELL OUT OF IT for about 12 years and 220,000+ miles. Only two water pumps and about five transmissions, a crank sensor, two accessory brackets, and a cracked DS header (all covered under the GMPP 5/unlimited warranty).

Car was running 13.50@105 with just a K&N, test tube, and 160* thermostat. I added a boost valve and could not understand why the car was slowing down at the track as I was adding boost. This was before I had a scan tool and the benefit of this board (late 80's).

Considering the above and that I only changed the oil about every 5,000 miles with what ever was on sale, I would have to say that we got a fine engine to work with.

The car ran fine except for some oil leaks. I wanted to crank it up a bit so I figured it was about time to go through it.

There is not a day that went by that the car did not go to WOT through 1, 2, & 3. - Lots of Fun.

177,000 with nothing but valve springs having been changed (header crack welded) and when we changed those it was just to see if the motor would quit popping into the intake manifold at > 10psi...it still does it.

I'd be in the 300k, but for the last 5.5 years I've had a one-way commute of 1.1 miles from driveway to parking lot. At this rate, it might b e ten years before I hit 200k.;)

Hmmm....199,255 miles

Yup...stock timing chain, water pump, injectors, valve springs, EVERYTHING internal basically. Now...I am on my 2nd tranny, 2nd convertor, 3rd turbo, 5th-6th set of tires, etc.....

Did I mention stock exhaust pipes...minus muffler and Cat! It has a factory installed "Garrett" muffler up front anyways! Just replaced them with straight pipe!!:D

not quite 100k yet but i am at 91k and the only thing i have replaced is the valve springs for performance reasons...everything else including the entire motor, transmission, rear end is original and going strong...still have the stock timing chain:eek:

My car has 18,200 miles-the tranny has been rebuilt--conv. replaced---engine is out now for a full rebuild-------maybe i should stop beating the crap out of this thing:confused: --i don't think so---by the time i get to some of the mileage described here--i will have put 8 motors and prolly 100k$ into it:D :D ---WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geoff

160k miles on the motor and car and it looks and runs (knock on wood) like it only has 60k on it.

just new valve springs and timing chain :)

i recomend valve springs and timing chain to any one w/ over 60k on their car :) might as well do it!!!

149,000 unopened motor on the familes 86, its a ticking time bomb with the stock timing chain, unless the clueless owner before actually did something. My dads 85 had 235,000 on it before the motor and tranny rebuild. HE bought it with 20,000 or so back in 87.

When dad had it, right at about 100k was stolen in memphis. New shortblock then. Hasn't been tinkered with after the new block until now-and I'm going nuts on it. The old block stayed 100% stock though.

Mine had 98k very hard miles on it till a bum converter took it out in ~91-92. The car has ~120k on it now (heh, put 30k on it in 10 years :-P). TRansmissions...now thats another story. Had 5 till the converter balooned. Did the last one myself and so far its living just fine.

My daily driver has 172,xxx. I'm third owner, have had it for three years now and have put over 40,000 miles on her in that time. I was told it had timing chain done at 100,000 [not for sure, i never found the orig. owner]. Runs great, oil pressure is minimal at idle [guage sometimes reads 0 psi], but since i have never heard a lifter rattle I doubt the guage is accurate.

Went 100,000 then engine spun rod bearing. Installed GM crate engine and it now has almost 100,000 in it.

Um, the Malibu has a blown head gasket due to improper tuning.:o

Just turned 325,000 on a 400 mile road trip over the 4th. on the original unopened engine and trans.

Upgraded the stock turbo at 292K witha TE44, and replaced the timing chain at 295K when it let go one morning when I went to start the car. Figured there might have been be a cause and effect there........

BTW, put the car on a chassis dyno in June and it is getting 273HP and 328 torque to the rear wheels.

I didn't start racing my last GN until it had 100,000 miles on motor. Only things we did were to replace valve springs and timing chain. It was still running well after 120,000 miles and over 1000 1/4 runs but we thought it was time to take a look at the engine and tore it down. The internal looked great, the tolerances checked out and we could have put it back together using the same parts (including bearings). I'd run Mobil 1 in the car as long as I owned it and changed oil about every 500 miles. The engine looked near new inside.

YOU GUYS ARE ALL SHOWOFFS. :p AT LEAST SOMEBODY AROUND HERE TELLS THE TRUTH ABOUT MILEAGE. :(

my sig tells it but it now has 161,500 valve spings and new chain and i still beat on it all the time.

BTW, RalphS87BB, you are selling yourself short. I just looked at the files and you were at 273RWHP and 338RWTQ. :)
