Highway Stars has a new high output coil. Anyone tried them, and if so, what results? On another note--what effect on coils does higher voltage have (hot wire)?

In the descriptions, the $39.95 new Magnavox coil pack has 34k volts at 5k vs 34k volts at 4k that the new GM high output coil pack offers. Not sure if that's just a typo and their both the same RPM but NOS4GN sells legit coilpacks.

ForcedFed on here just got the new Magnavox so maybe in a few days he'll post his results in here. I don't remember where I got my new one but I think it was from him and it solved my blow outs at high psi. I'll check my receipts.

My coil hot wire was worth every penny. The car just "feels better". Idle was improved, and it just runs soooo smooth. I am 100% sold on ignition upgrades now, so Im anxious to hear about these new coils!

Im waiting on Bob Bailey's new COP setup... it should be sweeeet.

just hotwired my coil pack too home made one and my idle is so much better as well as my a/f ratio at idle. 14.4 to 14.8 and blm's are 127. before the a/f was 13.6 to 13.9 and blm's were 123

How are you guys hot wiring the coil packs?

cut the 3rd pink and black wire from the left and ran one to 87 on a relay and the other from the harness side to 85 on relay. ground the 85 on relay and 30 went to a fused line to the alternator.

Also would like to hear some testimonials on the Magnavox coil vs. the AC Delco....from what Glenn has told me so far, the Magnavox is a US made piece whereas the AC Delco coil has been resourced to China. Also AC Delco will not post how many volts their coil is good for.

Are you saying to cut the 3rd wire from the left which is pink and black? or is there actually more than 1 pink and black wires and to count over and cut the 3rd one from the left? Are these wires numbered or marked in some way to identify them easily?

Thanks for any info you can add to clear this up for me,sometimes i get lost with directions.

I went out and removed the connector plug from the module and the wires are labeled by letters; ABC D EFG HJ KL MNP

The wires going to the letters B M P look like they could be pink with a black stripe, but it could just be they have faded after all these years. But if they are then the 3rd pink and black wire from the left would be letter B.

Anyone know for sure?

Ok i got it now. There are 2 pink and black wires and they are pinout letters M and P on the connector plug which are both ignition power wires. Since the 3rd wire from the left is pinout M thats the one i will use for the hotwire connection as suggested above.Pinout B was actually a tan and black wire,it just looked pink and black from fading.

I apologize to the op for hijacking your thread. But hopefully the info will help some that want to run a hotwire to the ignition.

I hooked up the hotwire but didn't see much improvement so far. But have only been able to start and idle the car due to rain, hopefully it will stop in the next couple of days so i can do a road test.
