Thanks. I wasn't sure if maybe they performed better or had improved spray pattern or something.Blazer406 said:The advantage is that the stock ECM will only do the high impedance injectors without sending it to someone like Bob Baily and having him modify it to work with the low impedance units...... other than that..... no...
IMHO.... I like the Motron 60's....high impedance.... they are "newer technology" if you will.....and work just fine on stock ECM's
I mostly will be daily driving this GN, so low and mid speed are most important to me (for now, that is). What would you say is available/best for unopened motor? What pattern of spray is best? I'm looking for 60# or more.Sleeper said:It used to be that the largest high impedence injectors you could get were 50 lb'ers. Above that, the low Impedence type (Peak and hold) were easier to control, (especially at idle pulse width ie. >2ms) because of the quicker response time. An injector operating on a saturated circuit driver (High impedence) typically has a reaction time of 2 milliseconds, while a peak and hold driver typically responds in 1.5 ms.
The larger newer type injectors have different coils, so the response time is better.
Spray pattern depends on style... Pintle, Disk, Ball and Socket, Radius Rod, Etc

If you look at my sig, you should be asking why "only" 60's? I have a Big Block mentality. I mean, when is enough ever enough? I've always tried to leave room for growth.Sleeper said:Just curious... Looking at your sig, why 60# or larger. If your not planning to do a lot of upgrades or racing, 50's would be more than enough.
As far as spray pattterns go... All of the new stuff is pretty good. I you want more technical details, give Jack at Racetronics a call. He can recommend something to suit your setup and needs.

When it is almost too much. Would you run a 4" bore in a 109 block? Would you run 50 lbs boost on a 109 block? How about a cam with 250 duration on your turbo Buick? The 60s should be good well into the 10s, per Joe Lubrant's chart at GnTType.org. And that's without going past 90% on the duty cycle, or turning up the fuel pressure past the "normal" range.I have a Big Block mentality. I mean, when is enough ever enough?
I noticed you said "almost too much." I can respect what you're saying. And I agree, to a point.Ormand said:When it is almost too much. Would you run a 4" bore in a 109 block? A single 340 is barely enough for 6 60's at 85% duty cycle if everything is right on through the stock fuel lines. Better opt for that double pumper when you throw on the T70 turbo .MY3TTYPES said:I noticed you said "almost too much." I can respect what you're saying. And I agree, to a point.
I drove an 84 GN for 13 years with no more than a hi-po fuel pump and a fresh "stock" motor/trans/rear, and some Enki 15"GNX wheels. (I like them) It was (is) a great car but I didn't mod it 'cause of it's rarity (only 2000, remember). I even towed my wifes Accura Integra from FL to CA behind it. It was in service until it was stolen (and recovered). I've since sent it to FL for a rest at my brothers place until I get back to it. I just love the leather seats.
Now I have a mass produced 86 w/ T-Tops (and they're off right now by the way). It's in good shape mostly, and I don't plan to be a "Joe Racer" and will drive it every day until the weather changes. (Advantage CA) The stock injectors were barely enough when new, and now, w/the TE44, no way. Is there that much difference between the 50' and 60's? 95% bigger-110% bigger, do you feel 60's are a mistake? I hope not cause they'll be here friday! Is a 340 pump too much? I just figure that I'll grow into them.
13 years with no mods, don't you think I deserve this, huh?
Thanks for the post, I have enjoyed and learned from them all!
If I even get close to that stage, I'll probably replace the lines with bigger stainless peices. Maybe use the feed line for return. I'm sure that is pretty far down the line though.bison said:A single 340 is barely enough for 6 60's at 85% duty cycle if everything is right on through the stock fuel lines.
