If you really want to hold some boost, try getting the 11" backing plates and drums off a 73-77 A body wagon or El Camino.
You can modify the existing axle flange to the earlier style 4 bolt flange by cutting the top porting off and drilling 4 new holes.
This style brake set up is awesome not only because of the shear surface area you get, but also because the wheel cylinders are bolted to the backing plate instead of using those stupid clips the G bodies used.
I have vacuum brakes on my car which I did because I liked the feel. My PM system failed on an off ramp of a local highway. It took everything in my power to stop it. I ended up driving the car home using the parking brake since it actually stopped better than the dead PM system. I have now had the vacuum set up on there for about 5 years now with no problems.
I have held over 10lbs of boost with it with the stock rear brakes. I cant wait to try out the 11 inchers!
Btw, anyone that needs the brackets to adapt the 98-2002 LSI F body or the 97-2004 C5 Corvette brakes can contact Brady at i_BILD@comcast.net
He sells the for DIY'ers.

stomping on a 2x4, not being able to lock up the wheels on slick roads, sounds like my car!!!

i actually have locked up the wheels once on dry roads. try going down the road about 30 over and see a semi truck pull out infront of you. i think i probaly re shaped the whole seat and bent the brake pedal, but i did lock up at least one wheel! i probably hit some sand if the truth was known...

i WILL be getting a new brake booster and i WILL be putting a vacuume pump on it. for the same price as a power master its worth the piece of mind. with a vaccuume pump it esentally is a power master.

i would still have a very hard time recomending vacuume brakes to anyone.
