So last night i installed a TE45A and Dutt neck intercooler on the car. I still have the stock converter for now.

When I drove it last night, I can barely build 5-6 psi of boost at the line, understandable since the turbo is much bigger then stock. I did notice after it does spool in 1st gear, it doesn't shift into 2nd in time and hits the limiter for a split second. This never happened before with the stock turbo. Currently I have the MAF Pro set to 25 psi (and boy does it that turbo wake up at that boost level).

The tranny has a shift kit and an external cooler. Never see temps over 180 degrees. Does the TV cable need to be adjusted? Too much power for the tranny? Blowing through the stock D5 converter?

I am haveing the same trouble with 2nd to 3rd gear. I took some fuel away on the chip programming and that seems to be a little better. I have adjusted the TV cable atleast 20 times in different directions, and it never really got any better. I am still fiddling with the fuel and boost. Does it seem to "surge" at WOT?

get the rev limit in the chip raised. Could also be wheelspin I suppose.

My car did a similar kinda thing on the 2-3 shift until I put drag radials on it. I would roll into the throttle in 2nd, the tires would spin a bit, it would shift into 3rd and regain traction and now of course the revs were too low in 3rd, it would downshift to 2nd spin and then upshift into 3rd again. This all happened really really fast and I would see my 5200rpm ses "shift light" flash on the dash. I thought I was chasing a battery cable shorting out as the engine torqued over but it was slight wheel spin causing the issue. As soon as I put the drag radials on the car the "problem"went away and I it figured out pretty quickly. If you've got street tires on the car you could be spinning them at the top of 1st and zinging the limiter quickly. Of course, the trans could be on it's way out or getting too hot while you're building boost for too long or something like that.

I think mine is a little more than that because I had slicks on the car. I hope that works for the guy that started this thread

I have 275/60 MT Drag radials, I don't think traction is the problem.

I'll raise the rev limiter and see what happens.

What was it set at? You dont want to be hitting the limiter. The limiter is only a safe guard against broken driveline components and a last line of protection. Id raise it to 6375 or remove it all together. You need a converter in there really bad. Ive never seen anyone blow through a D5 at any power level.

But if it's close to he limiter now the extra power might make it slip a bit more & just touch the limiter.

The limiter in the chip is set to 6000.

I did to passes yesterday and it seems the hotter the transmission, the harder it hits the limiter. The powerlogger only shows the RPM going to ~5600 before coming back down into 2nd gear, I'm just not sure if it's capturing the motor getting to 6000.

I think I'm out of injector also. I currently run 009, 42.5 lbs, I saw as high as 170% DC @ 27 psi. I did have it fat, AFR was around 10.5 to try to get rid of knock.

IMHO.... make plans on a new tranny. In my experience when they refuse to shift to the next gear..... they are right around the corner from needing a rebuild.... The 45A is putting torque to that tranny it has never seen before.

Keep us updated...

Can you get us a better data log

What tach? Are you sure its the rev limiter?

Here a powerlogger run from last night. Just change the extension to .dat so the powerlogger can read it.

I don't look at the stock tach, I was looking at the RPM through the powerlogger.

Thanks
