I walked out to my car today... only to find it sitting in a pool of melted asphalt/gasoline. Upon further inspection, it seemes that the previous owner patched a hole, and the patch failed. Any idea on how to fix this? Or do I need a new tank. Obviously a new tank is now planned, but for now, I would like to patch my daily driver. Thanks!

YES, to both of the above replies. I had a tank leaking years ago, and was able to solve it with liquid steal or JB Weld. It had somehow rubbed a pinhole in the tank strap area. However, in more recent times, I had to buy a new tank to replace that same one, because it had developed a bad rust problem internally (after sitting unused for 3 years), and the rusty tank caused me to knock out 3 fuel pumps over the course of a year. Anyway, once I decided to replace the tank instead of the pump, it never knocked out another... Duhhhhh!!! :)

Put a new tank in it! My S-10 was that way when I got it used. The patch also fell out so rather than try it myself I got a 99 S-10 tank from the boneyard for my 97 S-10 with pump and all for $75.00. How much is your/others lifes worth?

Thanks, everyone. I will do the JB Weld tomorrow, to get it back on the road. The problem is that exact one, pinhole under the strap area. I am getting a new tank now, but $5 for JB Weld currently is better than a new tank. Thanks again!

JB Weld over time will breakdown if exposed to gasoline constantly. I had it happen to me inside a carburetor that I repaired a leak on. Ended up getting in some passages. Moral of the story: This isn't a long term repair.
