Went to a show in Stratford CT at Sikorsky but got bored and was looking to leave. Someone there mentioned another show happening in Prospect that I went to last year that was really good. Forgot all about it.

Anyway, decided to head up there and I just missed being this person by about 10 minutes!

Woman dies after tree falls on her car | WTNH.com Connecticut

Was detoured on the way to the show and a cop said it was bad. Stayed at the show for a while and then headed home and saw the accident scene coming from the other way. Massive tree fell right across the road!

Used to travel 68 a lot years ago, now I'm on it Wallingford and Durham side a lot rarely the Cheshire, Prospect, Naugatuck side.

That is not a good way to go. :( RIP.

I've been lost on 68 before (trying to get the hell out of Cheshire and get back to 91) and I wished a tree would fall on me and take me out of my misery.

The commercial at the beginning of the news clip was classic: "plan your dream trip to Connecticut".

All I could think was "what kind of hell hole does somebody live in that a Visit to CT is a 'Dream Trip'?"

Prospect

Hey Mark, I parked my Cuda next to your GN at the Prospect show.I looked for you at the show but no luck. I saw you pulling out about an hour after I got there. There were about 5-6 nice GN/T's there. Weather was beautifull. Prospect puts on one of my favorite shows. Lots of cars(I was # 372) and I was there at about 1pm. Very well laid out, great food and lots of shade!!

Wow, why wouldn't that be trimmed back far enough from the roadway? That sucks.

the odds of being at the exact spot of a falling tree are so miniscule that it's not even worth thinking about. probably about the same as being struck by lightning.
it's a sad thing that the lady died, but this one appears to fall under the "poop happens" column.

watching it hit the car in front of you or being a couple cars back is a little more realistic to post . man, who ever commented wasn't lying about you conn guys being dramatic. oh my, if i didn't stop at that yellow it could have been me in ten miles.

You're kidding right??? OK, here goes, it was falling right on me and the superior acceleration capabilities of my GN saved me from certain death!

Just posting about an unfortunate accident and how unlucky somebody was and happy it wasn't me. Don't be such a d*ck.

AJ, saw the Cuda but for some reason forgot it was yours. Only stayed about an hour or so, had too much stuff to do. Did you see the GN with only 800 miles on it?

The same thing happened on "US68" Harrodsburg road a few years ago. This is in Nicholasville, Kentucky, a few miles south of Lexington. A man was sitting in rush hour traffic and a tree fell on his car, killing him. Now for the sad commentary on society. Where this man died was in front of the birth place of Barbaro, born and raised there. It was no more than twenty feet from the iron entry gate to the horse farm when this man died. No flowers on the side of the road, nothing. When Barbaro was put down the entire front entry to the farm was blocked from all the flowers that people had stopped and left. I guess when you are just an average person, you don't get that kind of attention like you would if you were a race horse. Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro euthanized - USATODAY.com I looked at this as a display of how screwed up people can really be.

Mark

Yeah I looked at the 800 mile GN but noticed the trip meter said 860 while the odometer said 800. Something fishy going on there!!!! The motor looked like someone painted it with a can of krylon.

UNGN I wish that tree would have hit you to. And hopefully your buddy from Chi-town is in the passenger seat.

CT sucks. Deal with it.

I'm glad I only have to a couple times a year.

Crazy way to die. I hope it was instant. As far as the CT vs texas debate, I have spent time all around both states and I think CT is much more attractive. Very colorful and near a lot of other places. Texas is hot, dry and populated by illegal immigrants and arrogent people wearing big hats everywhere and speaking with a stupid accent. The coastal area does have some potential though. Have a nice day;)

It's a good thing someone with a CT education helped found Texazz, otherwise nobody else would have ever found it. :p

Most people that think CT's **** don't stink have never really lived anywhere else. It's like the 11 year old girl that was kidnapped by the sex offender and worships the ground he walks on.

Not a very enlightened, open minded view that CT residents claim to have.

I've lived all all over the the US, in lots of great places, but no one could pay me enough money to live in CT, circa 2009. Face it, it sucks.

I'm sure it was great growing up as a kid and gee look a the leaves turn colors 4 days out of 365 or "I live 20 minute from the beach" (that is so cold I've never actually swam in it)

I have visited a lot of crappy places in my life, but nothing quite matches the beat down of flying into Bradley Intl in February and experiencing the joys of CT. Pure suckage.
