All right, my Yamaha surround sound receiver from the early 90's is dieing a slow death. Should I replace it with another brand...or stick with Yamaha? I'd be greatful for any input...thanks guys.

If you are buying from a retailer, I like the Onkyo stuff. I myself have a Yahama. If you can find an Integra dealer, buy one of those. It's Onkyo's highend line. Very nice stuff and usually carries a 5 year warranty.

Get you a Harmon Kardon receiver and call it a day. I have used there amps/recievers since the 80's. The wattage ratings are WAY under what they say on the box. You wont be disappointed.

I have a dedicated HT room in my house and I have sunk a ton of money into it. Not as much at that darn Gn in the shop though.:D I am getting ready to upgrade my current HK reciever to the new 3600 series that just came out.

Onkyo is good quality, but I prefer Denon. I've got an Onkyo, but am going back to my 15 yr old Denon. I like the sound much better, it doesn't have the features of the Onkyo though.

Depends on what you want to spend and what your other gear consists of. Lots of good stuff out there at various price points.

I love me some Yamaha. My Yamaha receiver is still going strong and I can't bring myself to replace it. I almost jumped on this deal myself but like I said I couldn't pull the trigger because it would mean getting rid of my current receiver that is working perfectly.

Ask yourself "Do you like R1s"? If so then get a Yamaha.:D

Got to watch out with denon. They have some cheap stuff as well as some badass stuff. When buying a demon, you get what you pay for. The lower price stuff is ok, but some of it really lacks features. We used one on a job a few weeks ago. I forget the part number but it was right around 500 bucks. Was a pretty nice unit. It did have the audyssey balance feature which works great if you don't ha e the equipment needed to balance your surround sound yourself.

I have the Onkyo 7.1 system and it seems pretty good. I have an older Harmon kardon system downstairs that was real nice till it quit. My friend has Nakamichi system with Dyne audio speakers and that system is nuts. But at 25,000 dollars he can keep it
