Hooking up a tach

DO I need a special tachometer or can I just use a basic tach and wire the green tach wire to the white ignition ecm wire?

I guess what I am asking is do I have to use a special tachometer or somekind of adapter to make a tach work with a GN?

Bump for ya, Im interested too. I believe the hookup is under the coil, little green connector, but Im not positive.

White wire green connector under the coil pack, stock tach/boost gauge is for crap. Most times it will show boost at idle.....
