87 turbo on a hot air car

i did this mod about 7 years ago when i was told by the vendors that this is not gonna work and i will have nothing but trouble with it
what a bunch of bs i was 19 at the time and had no idea what i was doing in front of my apartment
here it goes
you can use the whole turbo the way it is on a 87 but you must swich out the bottom bracket that holds the factory hot air turbo to the big bracket that is bolted onto the pass side of the intake
you must get a tight 90 degree bend adapter from sparco from their hot air kit
but i said screw it and just took off the intake got a aluminium pipe with a tight 90 degree bend in it and had it welded on the way i needed it to fit for me
here is the deal though
you must get the turbo compressor reclocked and facing the front of the car then take the bracket and turbo bolted to it to the shop that is gonna get the welding done for ya so that they can get it all to line up well and not making them hit eachother, since each car is a bit different you know i may need a half inch when you only need a quarter oh well
now here is the mod you have to do
since the reclocked housing is all weird now and the throttle body is out of whack you need to have a adapter made by a machine shop that bolts to the copmressor housing then the throttle body bolts to it so its all situated the correct way for the cables and hoses
now is the fun part you just go to a muffler shop and have them bend up a pipe that comes from your compressor housing and meets up with the pipe you had welded onto the intake that way they all can get connected
and youre golden
the best part of all of this is when you have this done you just put put around as a hot air for a while till you get a factory intercooler and you just need pipes made to and from (after you install the elec fans because you need the space) or just get a ic from a ford powerstroke and get the pipes made and you dont need to get rid of the fan
this also serves as a great set up later on because you can get an aftermarket 87 turbo that is factory apperaing and just install it and some injectors , chip and you are kicking ass

i do have my adapter that i had made for the throttle body bolt on with the reclocked compressor housing still in my garage it cost me 80 bucks to have it made and its a fine looking piece
if you want it just let me know ill sell it to ya for 40 i pay shipping
also have a brand new after cleaning 30lb injectors sitting collecting dust
you can have it all for 150
let me know if you have any other questions i did this years ago and have done it on other cars also for friends of mine it makes it a brand new car
also go to a muffler shop and have a brand new up pipe made
get a 2.5 inch u bend pipe
have them cut it in the middle of the u
cut the ends of your factory up pipe so that they can bolt them back to the tubo and the other end to the header and just sut and fit the u bend up pipe
it cost me a whole 50 bucks for the pipe and labor
and damn it made the thing spool!!!!!!!!!
best and cheapest mod i ever did on that car
when you reclock the turbo you will have to drill a new mounting hole for the wastegate but thats no biggie and make it work well
its a easy swap that should take less than a half a day with running around and getting the intake off and on for the pipe to be welded onto it

it has been coated by hpc silver great finish on the hot and cold side
