The boy is a victim. No matter how cool it might be for him, this woman took advantage of a child. If it was my son I think I'd be pretty pissed off. A child has enough problems at that age without having to worry about so called "responsible adults" violating them. Imagine if it was a male teacher and a 15 year old girl.

There's a double standard in this country. We're all saying he's lucky (and he was, wish it had been me at 15!), but what if the teacher was a 23 year old male and the student was a 15 year old girl? We'd all be blasting him. And for what? Everyone knows that young jailbait girls are far more attractive to older guys that immature pimply faced little boys are to older girls. Just look at how many Olson Twins countdowns there were, and how many Hilary Duff countdowns there are now.

As a teacher, I can say that this statement is very true. Although, teachers in general take anything of this nature seriously and that goes for both genders, it is a very clear and obvious bias of society over who gets the protection. As a male teacher (not very common) it is a very dangerous occupational hazzard to have a female student in my classroom alone. A smart male teacher knows to leave his door open when a female student is in the room for liability purposes. If there is only a male student in a male teachers classroom or in a females classroom then there is very little to no worry and if the door is open or closed is of no concern. Even with this measure, it is still a good idea for male teachers to be part of the union. Simply for the fact that any accusation made by a female student against a male teacher (which can often times be false) are taken extremely seriously and can very easily lead to legal proceedings. As a male teacher, this is the last thing you want. This can send your career in a tailspin even if acquitted.

I'm glad to see this female teacher getting the equal treatment and having to face the consequences that teachers should have to face for these acts. But, it's very true... women get a lot easier of a sentance from society compared to a male.
