Just installed a hot wire kit on my t type...or atleast i thought i did. Dont know if i hooked something up wrong. Thought it was basically common sense to hook it up. But ran it through the frame hooked the wire under the hood up to the stud on the back of the alternator and the two plugs into the harness in back for the sending unit and car wiring harness. Also took the ground wire and mounted that to the frame back by the fuel tank. Everytime i turn the key it pops the 30amp fuse under the hood on the hot wire harness. What do u guys think?

unplug the rear plugs and see if it pops the fuse. if it does, the wire is pinched somewhere ahead of that.

Since you grounded the kit on the frame at the back, make sure to ground the frame to the engine block up front or it won't count.

I unplugged the rear clips by fuel tank and it doesnt blow the fuse. Anyone have any other thoughts? Hoping to get this figured put, last step i think to getting the car running 100% and not cutting out at high rpm.

Do you have the wires crossed at the relay? It sounds like the relay is sending the hot to ground when you energize it. Check your relay pin out to make sure the hot in contact goes to the pump hot contact when the relay is energized.

Who's hotwire kit? Obviously you have eliminated everything ahead of the fuel tank. Have you hooked up the original connection to the fuel pump .and does this blow the fuse? Did you install a pump with hotwire kit? May be a shorted pump. The kit I installed does not allow you to cross wires. (Connectors only plug in one way)

The hot wire kit I just got from caspers had to wires crossed. I talked to them about it. Trust me it happens

I think it matters if your dash is digital or analog....and whether you have an 86 GN or 87. Check with the distributor of the hotwire to confirm you have the correct one.
