Does the kit from racetronix work with the original wiring (supplement it) or does it replace it all together ? I have a kill switch to the pump, so I assume if it replaces the wiring I will have to redo the kill switch to the hotwire line instead. Also, did where did everyone run the wiring, through the car or under it ?

thanks

got a whole pump and hotwire kit new in box $125 shipped(Racetronix)

Um I already have the kit, was looking for some input on my question. Guess i went over everyone's head in here:rolleyes:

I made my own but I *think* it piggybacks with the stock harness and uses the stock power as the switch for the relay so in that case your kill would still work. I went underneath on the drivers side.

thanks for the input big buick, i guess no one else had a clue due to the elusive nature of this product with so few in the buick world using a hotwire nowadays!

The kit works in conjunction with the stock wiring- it sends alternator to the fuel pump, bypassing the factory wiring for fuel pump power. Depending on where you put your kill switch (power wires or relay wiring), you will have to rewire the kill switch.

Hi-

I know what you mean...sometimes the responses on this site are like politicians'...ask a question and they answer their own question.

Anyway, the Racetronix harness is a nice setup. I got the Walbro pump with it.

The harness works off the existing leads for the pump and sender from the gas tank. Be sure you order per the color scheme of your existing connector wire colors as specified on the Racetronix site...there are two different wire color schemes.

The harness relay then grounds to the Driver side of the gas tank and bolts in front of the rear bumper.

The wires run UNDER the car, along the Driver side. Be sure to keep the harness away from exhaust and moveable suspension components. Wire ties are supplied. I found the wiring fit well inside the left frame rail...keeps it away from any road debris issues.

When you bring it up at the firewall, be sure you clear the steering column and exhaust components.

The harness then has its own fuse and wiring that EASILY bolts right onto the alternator. The kit even comes with nice brass bolts for the battery connectors.

Basically, it was plug and play. What took the most time was running the harness along the frame rail. I jack-standed the car so I could crawl underneath and easily see where I was running and tying the harness.

Hope that explains it all for you. Enjoy the 12+ volts!

Steve
