How do I bypass the Stock security sys

If I understand it ,the drivers door key lock is supposed to turn it off,but it doesnt turn that way for some reason,I just bought the car and was stuck today since the key would not disengage..am I doing something wrong..

Turning the key to unlock the door should disable it.

If you can get in the car by unlocking it, it should shut off the alarm.

Try the passenger door also in a pinch.

I can lock and unlock the drivers side all day long ,it will never stop the alarm,,so you are saying the passengers disables it also...

Passenger door should stop the alarm using the keyswitch.

Factory service manual has all the diagrams and test procedures.

Search feature may dig up more info.

It's not talked about much since thieves also have computers.

We don't make it easy for them.

If the passenger side disables the alarm normally, it's most likely a problem in the drivers side tamper switch and/or wiring.

The factory servcie manual is available from Helm Inc. in paper version, and there may be a CD Rom version available cheaper also, do a search on that also tons of info. out there.

If I was to have a alarm installed ,would they remove it a disable it-is that a common thing for them to do is remove the factory sysem....
I want to be able to unlock via a remote...dont like the key,to many chance to scratch the paint..

unplug the battery that should do it, even if the key does not work, hey how do we know this guy is not asking to go try to steal a GN, why are we giving him all this info

on the subject of stock security.
Where can we get a replacement remote for these things ?

dont mean to hijack this thread, but the stock security subject doesnt come up often due to reasons salvageV6 mentioned.

you mean I am suposed to have a remote ,,like a key chain remote.....My dads Limited doesnt have one and neither does this car.....

Well, my car has what i think is the factory security system and i have a keychain remote.
I bought it used in '91 and was told it was a factory alarm.

The car has those caution stickers on the rear quarter glass warning about factory equipped alarm or something.
Cant remember exactly what they say (car already in storage)
