Looks like the ta49 is the turbo of choice so who sell this turbo and will it come complete with everything I need I think that this turbo is the one recommended for going into the eleven and last but not least how much does it cost

ta 49

you could call craig at limit engineering
he will suggest 42.5 injectors and a lubrant chip to go with it.
im sending my core out there to get the same setup.

Precision turbo in indiana sells the TA 49 for sumthin like 700. It is just the turbo, no elbow, no injectors, nuttin. if you buy the turbo-saver (oil pump that helps turbo when starting dry), then they give a good warranty. I am going a little bigger I believe, as soon as I find out what my heads will flow.

You can call John Craig at limit, and he can sell you his TA33, 830 i think he quoted me for one, with the polished compressor, which is famous for the easy 12's you can reach with it....A lot of us hot air people have opted for this turo, and john stands by his product!!! From what I have heard, this turbo is a supurb upgrade!

i am trying somehting different, as I said, I am waiting for numbers before I make my decision, but I am ready for a big, fat turbo that I will force feed 800+ cfm!!!! yeah!! lol....I hope....
Anywho, good luck...I think the precision web site is www.precisionturbo.net......i'll check on it!

yeah...it is....but if your goal is just hitting 11's, you may want to go bigger, but you will not hit 11's or low 12s for that fact, if you dont port your heads, intake, and get good flowin exhaust, you are not going anywhere!!!!

Good luck!!!

John

hey I have ported my heads and intake even more I guess that I need to update my profile but here is what I'm cooking I have a 3000 stall 5 disc lockup vigilante stall 36lb blue tops inj, the split duration cam 206/212 3"dp with elec cut out were do I get the exhaust elbow for the ta49 since it doesn't come with one

i think it is like a few extra dollars on the same site...What 3" pipe do you have? Lee's? Do you need the exhaust elbow? I have the mease pipe, wich eliminates the exhaust elbow. I am unsure if the hot air elbow will fit any other model turbo, but if it does, I have a high-temp painted silver elbow if you end up needing one...Just pay for shipping!

I didnt read your mods when I said about the porting, but i do know this, you should at least gasket match the ports and the intake hump where the air goes in, should be either ground to a point, or smoothed down real nice for the better flow.

you seem to have a nice combo so far! What about a chip? Upgrade teh eletronics? Tires??? Those a re pretty imortant when pushing deep 12's and even 11's. Any work done to the trans?

I got a roller motor on the way, fully ported heads, fully ported intake, 3400 stall converter, considering DYNOTECH trans overhaul, 87 ECM, 87 Coil, walbro 340, 60lb injectors, Mease 3" dp with dump, atr 2.5" Up-pipe, ATR Raim Air with the 8" filter, lt1 maf, alum radiator from 90's camaro, eletric fan from GN, trans cooler, oil cooler, and I havent even gotten to the tires yet.
I have to wait for my flow numbers before I pick my turbo, thanks to some very healty info from a very reliable source!!!
Do you have flow numbers?

Many of the parts I have are sitting in boxes, or on order, waiting for $$$ from me! lol....I am a senior in college, and I am getting married in june, so the priority list sits the GN at about 5 or 6, not #1.....needless to say, I need another 12 months or so to have a running T-Type, let alone, an 11 sec car that I am trying to achieve. But, of all goes well! 11's are in sight!!!

just as I was about to make the decision to get the ta49 turbo I found out that you can get a ta60 stuffed into the 84/85 housing, lee thomson said that it is the biggest you can get into the original housing is there a reason no one else decided to go with this turbo

I am not too sure, but the John Craig model turbo the TA33c has some guts in it that hold 12's to their credit...I thought those wre 60 guts...but I may be waaaay offf....anyone help out with this?

John

ok it's confirmed I'm getting the ta60 turbo it is the biggest turbo that you can put in a 84/85 housing precision turbo seems to be the only one that can do it who else is running this turbo

My turbo is that setup, but unfortunatley I think I fried the bottom end of the block testing it with different chips. It sure was fast when it ran for about 30minutes or so.

Now just waiting to put together a built short block, with all the good parts.

My current mods
Poston headers, ATR crossover, ATR uppipe, Mease 3in downpipe. Craig stock housing turbo with 61 guts . 36lb injectors, ported heads with new valves, guides, and fresh seats. 100lb springs, 200/200 cam, esp hyd lifters, 87ECM, 87MAF, electric fan, 160 themostat, Ported intake, ground inlet hump, gasket matched ports all the way back.

Knock sensor, ATR air/fuel gauge, GNX O2 sensor, Boost gauge, Turbo controller, 5in tach w shift light.

Slow spool up, my tires break lose hard on the 1-2 shift. That's with a 3000 stall and the turbo is stock housing w/60-1 spleen. Highly reccommended  very dangerous on to drive on street tires and couldn't imagine it without posi.
