Okay - I'm getting closer.

I paid my $25 and received a "Collector Vehicle Voucher" in the mail from the DMV. They were quick about it, too. Looks like a regular registration card, but I'm supposed to bring it to the rear of the local inspection station where they will check my mileage and examine my insurance POLICY (have to bring the policy itself) to make sure it's insured as a limited use vehicle. Once this is done, they will "affix a special decal". I can hardly wait. Except my car is down for the count again - won't have it back for a few weeks.

I'll post back and let you know how I make out. The deep window tint and dump pipe where the cat used to be might be asking for trouble, even though there is no actual inspection.....

Contact Rally Insurance in Elmhurst. It is a collector car policy and you can choose from 3000 miles per year or 5000 miles per year. No driving to work is the only real restriction.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Good deal Mike,

Since then I have registred the car in Iowa ..no emissions there now I have been told that I would need a Iowa license...have to look into that...

We should hook up Mike I live in Morton Grove but work in Mt. Prospect right behind the dominicks at Mt. Prospect Plaza on Central and rand.

Heh - boy you guys. Tomorrow I start my first day of my very own business - officially.

My territory is Arlington Heights, Palatine, Rolling Ghettos, and I have customers in Mt Prospect.

My office is near Northwest Highway and Wilke by the racetrack.

Small world!

Hey Todd,I wish you the best of luck with the new business,Just meeting you the short while that I did,, told me that you can make a pile of Sh!t into a pot of gold....gold luck bud....

Hey Todd is there a TB discount for home cleaning ,,,I will consider using your workers...
Thankss;)

In Pa, classic insurance and emissions exempt have NO connection. U don't need classic insurance to be emissions exempt.. Drive under a certain amount of miles and you are automatically exempt:)

Oh - mweber is gonna get the TB.com discount. Let me know the new addy Dennis, I will send out a packet.

For those that may not know - I am leaving the fortune 500 computer techie, "secure" job market and starting my own residential cleaning franchise.

Sorry to stomp on this thread - if you want to continue this convo, please start a new thread up.... :D

Hey Todd,

Good for you man...I have a good secure job to and thinking about getting into business cause I am tired for working for someone driving me nuts. The key thing is what to get into..doing my research. Good luck to ya!!

Done!

Sorry for continuing to hijack this thread, but as promised here are the results of my efforts to make my GN emissions exempt in NJ:

It was easy.

Your experience may vary, but I went to the re-inspection line at the local inspection station (thank gawd because the place was JAMMED today - at least a 3 hour wait for inspection).

I rolled up, a dude came out and said whaddya want? I showed him my "voucher", registration, insurance card, and license. He asked me to drive around to make sure the odometer worked. I did. He asked if I still had the 5.0 in it (Monte SS reference), I said no (why bother explaining?). He gave me an orange triangle sticker:

I'm good for 2 years. If you can't see the picture, it says "NJ Collector Vehicle" with the expiration year (2005).

If you live in NJ, don't drive your car much, and don't want to go through inspection (or can't pass) this is a good option. I have deeeeeep tint and a cut out where the cat used to be. No questions asked about anything.
