I'm going back to the track tomorrow and need some advice to get my best times...I've been told several different ways to launch hard but I'm not sure which way is best? So far I have cut a best 60 foot of 1.62 on 28x9 M/T slicks launching with about 15 psi of boost. I light both stage bulbs and then gradually bring the boost up till I see 15 then I floor it and THEN immediately let off the brake pedal. This seems to work OK but one of my friends wants me to actually FLOOR the car once I light up the 2nd bulb and once the boost needle hits 15 psi THEN let off the brake...havent really tried this yet...

will these tires hold more than 15 psi??? seems like they were just starting to let go at that boost...I'm running off the footbrake and stock brakes btw...also I know this is discussed alot but should I lock my converter at the starting line or once I hit 3rd gear during the run? I seem to gain 2 mph just locking it in 3rd but I gain no ET usually...

I think the converter lockup point is determined by what type of converter you have.

I lock my 9.5" and 10" single disk converters only in 3rd gear to hopefully prolong their lives. :)

If you have a multi-disk or good 9x11, you could probably lock it on the line.

Launching the car at any boost level is basically determined by how well the track is hooking. Lower boost and NO spinning works the best for me, but then again I usually spin at the poorly prepped track I get to race at. :(

If you are locking it Through the ALDL then lock it after the 2-3 shift.

Reason being if you hit the switch on the line it won't lock the converter till you hit 3rd...Only problem with that is the tranny can't shift and lock the converter at the same time...Your tranny will suffer, not to mention your shift quality.
