Hold down Alt...then use the number pad and hit 2 4 8. Once you release the Alt key it will appear on the screen.

Then I wonder......is she comparing me to others? Hmmmmm.:D

Other occasionally useful ASCII characters are (press & hold ALT, then press the numbers, then release all keys).

First character shown is the result, 2nd set of numbers is what to press , eg: ALT 171

½ 171
¼ 172
± 241
÷ 246
º 167 (similar appearance to "248")
µ 230
° 248

¢ 0162 (must press the leading "0")
© 0169
® 0174
² 0178 (superscript, as in 3² = 9).
¼ 0188
½ 0189
¾ 0190

I use 'alt 167', looks like this º

'alt 248' ° is probably more accurate now that I see the difference. ;)

hmm.. I use alt + 423 for º
and alt + 424 for ¿

so if you do a 423-424-423 you get º¿º

Bryan,

which keystrokes do you press to make the:

ohm symbol/ greek letter omega.
"approximately" symbol, two "~" stacked on top of each other.

MS Word has them as insertable symbols, but haven't seen it for text-based editors.
