Not sure if the King Bearings have copper in them or not. How do you know when they are worn out?? I pulled the motor to inspect it and can't tell if the bearing are good. Seems that the first layer is a lighter gray color. Or should I just replace them and not worry about it?????
Thanks

If they are showing copper they are done. If you see scoring and/or lines that is bad as well.

I have a set of brand new KING main/rod bearings that are .020" over for $80 shipped. They are collecting dust new in the box in my parts closet. I looked at them in the package and they have a silverish finish on the top layer.

I'm out of town Aug 1-2nd.

Hi,
You mean main or rod bearings? How does the crank look? I would guess that, if the bearings don't appear radically f^&*ed up, you are doing ok. If you want to just freshen up the motor, slap in some fresh, standard bearings. However, since you have the whole thing apart, I personally would let a machinist see what you have, possible good advice.Have fun!

The car has been down the track many times in the 10.70 range. I do not have any copper showing, not sure if these bearings have a copper layer in them???? Yes I'm talking about rod and main bearings.
Thanks guys
