I have the doors apart and am trying to put them back together. For some reason i can't figure out how the door handle rod connects to the latch below. Every way I've put it in has the door handle propped open/up a bit which looks ridiculous. It makes it seem like the rod is too short which I'm sure isn't the case.
Anyone have a picture of how it connects to the latch?

If I remember correctly there is one end with two curves and another with a 90. The curved end sits in the latch and pretty sure its held in with a metal clip. Then the upper part of the rod with the 90 on it snaps into the handle which should have some type of plastic retainer. Make sure everything works perfectly before you put the door panel on. I made that mistake and now left with a lock cylinder that is binding. Also check your door handles. If they have play or look bent its a sign they are going to fail and I suggest buying a new one or finding a good used one.

Exactly. There's a 90* end that goes into the handle then there's a curved end that goes to the latch. I can't figure out how that end goes into the latch. I seem to have two scenarios how it could go, but neither of them seem right as the rod ends up short. I must be missing something

Wrong pics. looking for the handle pic.....

Maybe these can help....

These are passenger side handle views.

That lower pic is the one I need. Is there a clip holding that lower rod into the latch?

No. the 'zigsag' part just drops down into the lever arm. When the top of the rod is attached to the handle it can't rise up enough to fall out.

Wow, I was making this far more complicated than it actually is lol. Thanks guys. I really appreciate it

Are you good now? I can take a picture of my door for you, I'm in the middle of pulling my outer door handles so I can paint my car. I'm just trying to do it in the best way possible. I don't know if I should leave the clip at the inside of the(outer door handle@ the 90 on the rod) alone, and just loosen the latch mechanism so I can pull the lower bend of the rod out. I don't know if the handle will come out with the rod still connected though?

Also worried about having to align the latch mechanism if I loosen or remove it.

I'm not sure if the rod will pull out with the handle. Can't hurt to try though. I don't see why it wouldn't especially if you're having trouble with the clip. That rod just sits into the latch. I thought it locked in some how originally
