Im always between 15mins and 30mins early . I work 3:30 to midnight. There are some guys that get there at 3:30 and then goof off for 20 mins and then we have a evening brief and they try to stretch that. they should be ready to work at 3:30.The Union does not say a thing about it if they are called out. These guys have 3 years to go to retire so they could care less.

i'm like the rest of the guys with military backgrounds, on time is late, i show up anywhere from 30 min to an hour early check emails get organnized any plant he day. sometimes show up even earlier if i work past my scheduled 10 hour day i flex the extra hours.

if the emails are a part of your work, then you are legally supposed to be getting paid to check them.

it's taken me 2 and a half years, but i think i've finally trained one of my coworkers to not talk to me about anything work related until after 5:30 when i'm on the clock... he's a divorced 63 year old engineer, so he pretty much lives for work... he used to come out to my car when i'd get there and ask me questions about what i was doing the night before- i had to keep telling him that i don't think about work unless i'm getting paid to think about work... i've noticed lately that he waits until after 5:30 to talk to me about work stuff, which is good... he stays around until midnight sometimes, so it's not like i'm making him hang around to tell me stuff..

Well it's nice to see that at least you're honest, and that you don't care who you step on to get ahead, and since that makes you no different from anyone who decides to come in early, it doesn't make me wish that I could be part of your little "good company cool club"......

Nah its not like that, good try though

If you are a car guy, and you worked where I work, you might come in early too.

The stuff that comes off the trucks and drives into the service drives each and every day makes me pinch myself to ensure it's not a dream that I'm in.

I get to work about 5 minutes early, the boss gets there about 5 minutes late. Neither complains about the other. When a customer calls for help with a problem
they usually request me. This irritates my boss :) The customer does not care if I come in 5 minutes or 5 hours early. They just want excellent service during
the normal hours of operation. This I provide.
