I still have my stock fuel pump (for now). I installed an AFPR and an atr pitbull chip recently. My question is this....what's a safe fuel pressure to run with the stock fuel pump? Right now I have the regulator set at about 43psi at idle with the vacuum off. The chip is set-up for about 17 or 18 psi of boost(I'm guessing). Is that too much for my stock pump to handle? I plan on buying a better pump, probably a Walbro 340 or 307. For now, though I'm stuck! Any insight would be invaluable! TIA!

You're flirting with disaster.
I hope you at least have a scan tool in the car.
I wouldn't push the stock pump any further, at the very least, hotwire it.

The Stock fuel pump was barely enough for a stock setup. I would try to get that replaced with a high flow fuel pump ASAP! Also with that chip you are using I would lower the boost, those pitbull chips have high timing and with pump gas at that boost level will cause your engine to detonate. Also get yourself a scan tool and a boost guage.

Set the boost back down until you get the pump.

A little fun isn't worth the risk.

to the end of your driveway... maybe :D ;)

Go ahead and get the Walbro 340. Back when I got mine I thought, oh I don't need the 340, i'll just get the 307. Don't know what I was thinking. There is no good reason not to get the 340.

geez a walbro 307-340 with a hot wire is probally the cheapest and best first mod one can do. do you really want to change headgaskets or even worse just because of a fuel pump??? oh and theres nothing wrong with a 307, Jack Cotton went 10's a few years back on a single 307.

Can you say HEADGASKETS????????

Don't turn up the boost unless you want to learn how to install headgaskets before you learn how to install a fuel pump.

I made it to the high 14's with mine! If thats fast enough for you, I say go for it.

I get the picture.:) Thanks for the help. I'll be ordering a Walbro340 w/ a plug-n-play kit from Racetronix Tom! How much of a P.I.T.A. is it to install the fuel pump? Any clues are welcome! Thanks guys!

The RT kit is what is on my car.
It's a very easy install, IMO. I've done quite a few in-tank pumps on Mustangs, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I didn't need my soldering iron and bag of heat shring tubing. :D
It took me about 3-4 hours in my driveway, BS'ing with my neighbor and eating lunch.
