How fast could this get me?

well Gee ... alot has changed since 87-90 hasn't it ...

you can break a stock one if you are determined to do so..

chip technology has gone a long way... we now have alky and E85... better tuning tools.. better tires.. better parts in general.

I don't see hi 12's breaking anything unless he detonates the hell out of it with junk fuel.

I've beat the snot out one of my TTA's for a VERY long time @ way faster than high 12's .... eventually the trans did start to slip , but a simple refresh and it was back to the races....

im not saying they will take 20+ years of thrashing @ 30 psi and live ... but give them some credit .. if you have good fuel and are in the ballpark with the tune .. they will bring you years of smiles
The car in stock form hasn't changed at all. The fuel is worse if anything.

not sure... in the 80's we didn't have E85 or Alky or Q16 or VPimport or DASH or VP4
Now with pump fuel 21-22 psi is a reality in daily driver form ... E85 is a beautiful thing. you can have your cake and eat it too..

IMHO the Turbo Buicks Achilles heel is fuel quality / and owner stupidity ....

IF you don't experience a turbo buick with HIGH BOOST / GOOD FUEL / GOOD TUNE ... you've completely missed the boat with these cars .

Even if its only once so you can see what these things are actual capable of .. 13 psi and 91 octane just doesn't do them justice.

I guess that's why some of us take them to car shows while others take them to the track ... I guess if it ain't fast .. show it :) its all owner preference.
Either way as long as you enjoy them that's whats important .. part of the enjoyment for me I guess is taking one in stock form
and doing minimal things and watching the expression on the customers face as the car boils the tires through 3rd gear... Priceless

Don't be afraid to ask questions and remember the golden rule with these cars .. parts don't make them go fast !

High 12's is very doable in stock-ish trim with E85. See my sig below. I'm only running one pump until I get the 120's on and wire the waste gate shut. Note that the time below was accomplished before bison rebuilt my stock turbo. I'm hoping to go low 12's soon. Then I'll be in line for a new trans!

Fwiw: my old 86 gn went 12.88@108 with just a race chip, race gas, gutted cat, adjustable regulator and slicks. This was on an open rear end with a 1.8 60'. So 12's can be had cheap but be prepared to go through the trans.

Not trying to stir things up and I know what worked for me may not work for others. But back in the mid 90's had a high mileage Limited (130k), had an ATR 93 pitbull chip, BGC fuel pump, ATR ramair, factory exhaust between where the cat used to be & the dynomax super turbo muffs & muffler shop fabbed tailpipes. Still had oe non adjustable wastegate actuator, chip made 18 psi, locking the converter at top of 2nd gear would run 12.6's 108 mph. Street raced nearly every weekend slaughtering mustang after mustang. Did have to build trans at 151k. This was also my dd for 5 years. So it is possible (but not probable) to have a reliable car at this power level. On the other side of that coin bought current GN 73k miles with the crankshaft in the oil pan!!!
