hey guys just wondering how fast your cars spool... hotairs seem to spool a hell of alot faster than anything else out there..

http://home.attbi.com/~threepointeight/boost.avi

there is a short movie of my car spooling while cruising at 45mph in OD, i just went WOT, didnt put it in drive or anything.

this is with an atr 2.5" DP connected to a 3" non mandrel exhaust consisting of a 3" catco cat and a 3" flowtech cutout, with A CRACKED HEADER.

uncapped it takes about half this time, because instead of going from 18" vacuum to 0psi, it goes DIRECTLY to 5psi boost, then swings over to 15 :)

so let me know how you guys spool...

i was watching some supra videos and you can sit there and watch the boost gauge's needle slowly swing over after every shift, its sad.

With the stock turbo and a PTS 3200 stall convertor. I can have the tires spinning in 10 feet without brake torqueing it either.

From a roll with the TA49 I don't think the boost guage could keep up with the spool. It was about as close to instant as you could get. From a stop without powerbraking about 1.5 seconds to full boost. Powerbraking about half of that.

With the 64 and PTE exhaust housing (POS) it sometimes took until the middle of second gear and I have a video to prove it. Same went for the 62 and PTE exhaust. My dad's however with the 62 and regular Garett housing spooled extremely fast for it's size, maybe 2 seconds from a stop.

Hey cool84, was it you that was using a set of 87 headers with a custom uppipe to the turbo on your car??? Or if not, do you remember who it is(was)???

BTW, my spool was fairly quick after I relocated my throttle body to the pressure side, but now with a cracked header, it still spools okay, but not nearly as fast any more...TA-51 w/PTE exh housing, 3" THDP, CRACKED(really bad!!!!) pass side Poston's replacement coated headers, and a 2800 stall LU Neil Chance converter...

mines spools pretty quick when the exh sys is removed after the dp. :D
