Just wondering how hard is it to drop a transmission? i know you need something to put under the tranny to hold it while you remove...whatever needs removeing, i would normally just take it to my mech, but i'd be looking at about $500 bucks just to do that, i would if i could but work is slow and i have to try to save whenever i can. any advice would really help

thanks

It's totally doable. I just started too. I bought some jacks stands and stuff, a GN may be different than a TA, but probably similiar. Just got it high enough to get that sweet baby out of the car. Most jacks will only jack so high and jack stands at the most go to 30". I just pulled mine with 30" jack stands, had to wiggle the tranny off the jack (with a trans jack piece attached) to slip it out of the car. Wasn't too bad. you'll need a buddy. Here's my link, shows pics. I've yet to put it back in though, Shouldn't be too bad. good luck.
