In the ATR catalog there is a $15 set of hoses that says fixes the most common cause of overboost. Now this car sat for almost 4 years without being driven, and these hoses look pretty yucky. How hard is it to replace these and where do they go from the wastegate? Thanks!!!

Piece of cake.

Hose comes off of the compressor housing to the "Y". one side of the "Y" goes to the WG solenoid, one to the actuator.

Make sure the engine is cool and it should take about 60 seconds to do.

BE CAREFUL, the WG solenoid (mounted on the passenger valve cover ) is brittle and the nipples will break easily. Best to cut the hose off with a razor blade.

Notice how the old hose is installed. Also note the hose comes off the passenger side of the solenoid with the the other side not used and should have a small foam filter.

Hey Dan mine doesnt have that foam filter on the one side, it is just open with nothing on it. Should the side not in use be covered with something? if so, where do you get it.

thanks

carefully note the orientation of the "Y" -- one leg has an 0.045" - 0.050" orifice installed in it. I believe it's the leg directly connected to the turbo compressor, but don't quote me, I'm going from memory. Just put it back the way it was!

Some have reported replacement "Y"s that have had out of spec orifices, and resulting problems with underboost/overboost/slow spooling. If you're going to use an aftermarket "Y", I'd check the orifice size carefully, using either a set of wire guages, or the shank end of small drill bits as guages. Best bet is to re-use original "Y" and just install the new rubber hoses.
