Everyone here makes engine removal sound easy. I have a number things I would do if the engine were out. Do I have to evacuate the A/C or can I move the compressor out of the way with the lines attached?

It takes between 2- 3 hours to pull, and the AC compressor is moved but not disconnected. Don't pull motor unless you really have to. 2-3 hours is all bust A!! work, and always taking the chance of breaking somethin real expensive or unobtainable. I just changed my headgaskets with the motor in the car for that reason. If it aint broke don't fix it or mess with it.

I'd agree, 2-3 hours, if all comes apart well, like the crossover pipe bolts, and downpipe bolts. Pulling the Motor is actually pretty easy, you don't even have to pull the Hood off,,, putting it back in takes a bit longer however.... If I had to do major internal work, besides Headgaskets or T-chain, I'd pull it, it's alot easier to work on it on a stand, and you'll do a better job.

To pull an engine it just takes a couple ours.

It's the few months its takes to put it back in that are the killer.

Take off the front clip including the fenders. It will all come off in one piece. And definately take off the hood. May sound like alot of work, but there is not really that much holding the front body on. This will make it 10 times easier to remove the engine. But will make it 100 times easier to put back in. It also greatly reduces the risk of damaging hard to find parts. Like good fenders. Plus you'll only have to jack the engine about half as high as you would with the body still on.

Ever tip a loaded cherry picker? :(

I would leave the body panels where they are. Also leave the hood on too. It is an easy pull but I have done this sort of thing for a long time. Get help if it is your first.

You MUST be kidding right!

Have done many motors, and lots with the trans still attached, and never even removed or unbolted the hood. It is an easy job for anyone slightly familiar with this kind of work.
