My car has been making a grinding noise the last couple of weeks when i shift out of park into drive, but today it makes the noise every time it shifts gears. Plus, you can even hear it while just driving and when you turn it off. Not to mention it takes a couple seconds to shift in between gears, anybody know how much longer it will last? I need it to last 2 more weeks at the very least. Anybody know how i can make it last a little longer. The fluid is full and everything i just need at least 2 more weeks out of it.

P.S. Where do you get the hardened clutches? Do you have to order them or do tranny shops carry them

Oh forgot to mention i got an ses light with a code 43. Excessive noise. This has to get me back and forth to work for at least 2 weeks and i work 15 miles away from work, so 30 a day at least. Please help me out.

What do we win if we guess right?

I guess sometime after tommorrow....:D

and the next question should be , "I seem to have a sore throat, How long will I live Doc?"

ROFLMAO! :D

i predict that it will scatter somewhere on the freeway. bad
things usually happen when your in the worst traffic situation.
you say it still grinds when you turn it off? explain. your code 43
is related to the electronic spark control.

LOL

Yea, my luck too... I would be on freeway at 5:00 with a diabetic who needs insulin in a hailstorm with a tow truck union strike!

Well when i first start it and shift into gear it makes what sounds like a grinding noise and when i turn off the car it makes the same kind of grinding noise. I noticed today on my scanmaster when i start from a dead stop i get anywhere from 15-40 degrees of knock. The tranny is making that much noise, like rattling and grinding. It sounds horrible.
Is there something i can do to make it last longer? I need two weeks out of it till i get my bonus check, its my daily driver. I drive 15 miles each way to work. Usually 300-400 miles a week. I can cut down by not going anywhere else, but it has to last 2 weeks. I get off at like 2:00am so would it be better to drive interstates or stop and go.
And where do i get the hardened clutches.

I will try to be a little more helpful to you then the last posts and give you what I would try. I would drive on the interstate instead of stop and go driving as the tranny will have to make less shifts this way and may last a little longer. As for what else to try the only thing I can say to try no to accelerate quickly if at all possible.
Hope this helps, Kip

How about maybe starter is stuck engaged, that would make a grinding noise and would trip knock sensor. food for thought.
