484 production block bored .060 over.

Comp 268 high energy cam (218/218)flat tappet

3200 stall,TE63,extender chip,ZO6 maf and translator +,ported heads and intake,PTE front mount,southside bars.

I think thats about it as far as the important parts.

The block was bored .060 because the pistons I bought were a used set from a stage 2 motor that I picked up for $150 and they were 4.020. Never overheated and ran great.

4.1 block here. 4.030 bore with stock turbo crank and rods. Girdled. Ran 10.91 on 93 and a 255/50/16 drag radial. No issues other than traction. Spools my 72 q-trim rather fast. I have no plans to ever go back to a 3.8.

yeah, i've always wanted to do a 4.1. I think I might just buy a motor to build, and then throw it in when I break something major on the 109! I'll probably put a built tranny in with it.

tom j, your setup is what I'm probably gonna go with -- e85 and 25 lbs or more of boost. that kind of performance from pump gas is amazing.

Well i got my pistons, and block is being finished. I will need all you guys help when i have dumb ??? Like crank end play, how to set, and how important is it.Fully ported, heads, and intake should do good on the 4.1. I hope Jack Cotton do me right on the turbo!!

Please excuse me, but will someone tell me what a 484 production block is and what vehicle it comes from?

Thanks

Just an 84-85 4.1 block the last three numbers are 484 on the casting #.

You could find them in a few cadillacs and some larger buicks and olds.

I just hit up Chris McDade on here in houston and buy one from him when I need one,I get them for about half of what a 109 block costs me.

Ok, this maybe dumb, but the main caps fit tight in there spots. Being you must torgue them in, check them, then pull out is there a trick to popping them in, and out without damage or just do the best you can?

Did you have a girddle, i cany afford one, but thinking of a little hard block.

What is floating rods?

What is floating rods?

They are bushed on the ends with a spirolock in the piston skirt, you don't have to press them on. Nice, but not really necessary inless you want every last HP you can get. Motor might make another 5 hp maybe.

I just used stock rods and crank and I have also pushed the NA crank to the same power levels with no problems in the past.

Ok thx for the info, you dont know the part number for the APR main studs???

Just dont use hyper pistons.:frown:
It cost me my block.
Well i will have to use them to fit my budget, but i didnt know it, but my 109 has them in it, and i have blown the HG at least 6times getting all kinds of knock, and they havent broke yet. This is a cheap build to see if i can do it. All i can say is if they havent broke with me, there some dam good pistons. This last time i blew mt HGs i got 105 in knock, and they are still good.
