Whats the most you guys have gotten out of a stock type actuator? I tightened mine down as far as I could and the most I can get is 20PSI. At least I did not get any boost creep. Thanks

That was the limit for me too. I went to HD actuator and now have about 3/8" more range which should be plenty for going higher soon.

I shortened the rod about 1/4" and maintained 26-28psi with no problems....

I'm thinking about wacking 1/4" off also. Kevin once you did that could you still turn it down to say 16psi if necessary?

I think 17-18 was MINIMUM! It was barely hanging on by a couple of threads though. Do a little at a time or do some measuring/calculations b4 cutting....

Thanks Kevin, I think I will stay at 20 for now then. I still want to be able to go back if I need to.

I hit over 30 lbs with the stock actuator, but that was because I blew off a vac hose.

I was able to hit 22 psi without a problem with the stock setup.

Why don't you guys try a bleeder valve. I use one in addition to the stock solenoid and WG actuator. You don't have to put so much pre-load on the WG actuator spring. You just open up the bleeder a little more to raise the boost.

With the bleeder closed I'm at 14-15 lbs for pump gas. Load up on race gas, open the bleeder and the boost goes up from there.

My wastegate arm was stuck shut when I first bought my car.
I got a boost gauge on and I saw it boost past 25lbs..
Oops!
At least I know it can go that high.. hehe

I think they look tacky... I now use a grainger valve and it looks tacky also... It has nothing to do with operation, only looks. Everytime I open the hood I see it and try to think of some nice way to "decorate" it... lol... I may go back to the stock setup once I get things figured out...

Boost Commander!

Much better than a dial a boost, somewhat cheap and very linear.

I was hitting 20 psi in an overboost condition. Don't that on this crappy California 91 octane is not good. I can't wait for my SMC kit to arrive:D

20 psi on pumpgas club

Doughboy, glad to see I'm not the only one that accomplished 20 psi on pump gas. After cleaning my intercooler, and after some WG complications, I boosted it up to 20 just for a fraction of a second. I expected to see headgasket blown all over the engine, but she held up (I THINK). Definitely scary, but I wouldn't sweat it.

Duct Tape works wonders :)

speaking about stock WG actuators, I have an original non-adjustable with a Thrasher 92 chip.

Would a non-adjustable WG be holding boost back? I have heard the Thrasher will try to get 20psi in first gear, which I can never get. What really controls boost? chip or actuator?

Thanks

Batman, both. Sometimes unfortuantely. ;)

A chip that gives you say 18 psi. in 1st and second gear with a stock actuator will now give you more or less if you should make the actuator adjustable and start playing with it.
