I am going to the track pretty soon here and I am wondering if I can get away with just running around 16# of boost and still hit the 12's?

I got: V2 intake, spearco FM intercooler, 40# inj., 87 throttle body, 2.5 ATR down & 2.25 up, stock cam, freshened stock heads, rebuilt motor 10K, stock tranny and stall, no cat, 2.5 dual cat back, cone filter, stock headers, poston crossover, bigger fuel pump & hotwire, adj. waste and fuel press. reg., electric fans, 87 ecm, 93 octane jay carter chip, stock 3.42 gears, rear passenger air bag, frame braces, back seat braces, and other little stuff that don't matter. Car is a hard top too. ;)

I got her running at about 14# of boost and she pulls really frickin hard. I am on a limit budget with the new house and hate to fill up on race gas and turn the boost up and something happen. Looking to just run 93 with maybe a little race gas at 16# and pull a 12 second pass?? Would be running on stock size tires....copper cobras. Might get bigger tires before I go, not sure.

I will be racing my buddy from work who has a BMW M3......13.1 in the quarter mile. So, if I pull a high 12 that would be perfect. Then I figure later on this year I might go back and try my hand at some race gas and a higher octane chip also. Will be nice to beat his 55K dollar car.

Better fuel will help any knock retard, with good traction,a good day weather wise and a tune thats on the mark, your setup should get you there or close.

You are close. Are you breaking the tires loose? If so some sticky tires will help you alot. Brad

Better make it hook! You can hit 12s with 103mph traps if it hooks really really good. I think your combo will trap at least that much @ 16psi. If you're running the stock turbo, don't expect more than 105-6mph traps fully maxed out no matter how much boost you run.

With that said, throw some racegas in there, race chip, and kill the Bimmer. IMO racegas with a little more boost is safer on the motor than running it on the edge of detonation with low boost and low octane.

Edit: Just saw the TA49 in your sig. You should kill him.

Ya, I have the TA-49 forgot to mention that.....
I think I am going to throw a mix of 93 and 110 in the tank and get the boost around 18#.
Right now the tires break loose almost through 1st and catch right before 2nd....and then maybe a squak in 2nd. That is at 14# of boost. The tires don't do bad for how small they are. My buddy has some 255's I should probably buy off of him.
I just have to hit the 12's and the 55K dollar beamer is toast!! Then another guy is bringing his '87 iroc and then we got some honda boys going too. I should kill them all.
