thanks in advance....new to the GN. Have a few boost questions. First, how much boost is safe for a basically stock GN. I notice 15lbs on the stock gauge under acceleration. Is there much of an advantage in an increase. If so how much. Obviously an aftermarket gauge would be required. How is boost adjusted on a stock car. And also, i see very frequent mention of the scanmaster. Who manufactures them and how much. thanks

Welcome!

I don't really think there is a clear answer to the amount of boost you can run. It depends on where you experience detonation and that depends on a whole lot of other factors. Every car seems to be a bit different. The very best thing that you can do is read. read. read. read. Most of the questions you have aready have been asked and expertly answered on this board (use the search feature.) Another great source of information can be found at www.gnttype.org Pay special attention to the "spring cleaning" and look closely at the recipe section: http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/recipes/recipepage.html

Good luck and enjoy!

Stock fuel can barely handle stock power/boost.

Invest in a Walbro 340, 36# (or higher) injectors, an adjustable FP regulator, and a scanmaster before touching the boost.

Boost can be changed by making the wastegate adjustable, by chipping the ECU so the MAP solenoid changes the reading, or with a boost controller (rather expensive).

Detonation/knock is caused by too much boost/timing, and not enough octane. This is why you should get some sort of scantool to monitor this. Detonation is what kills engines.
