How much boost should i be able to run on 93 oct gas and alky with a te-60 turbo with no knock? I was runnin 23-24 lbs with alchy 92/93 mix (I ran outta gas and put a lil 92 in til i got to a gas st. with 93) I got knock from 3-6 degress at times. Ran 4 times. How would i know if this knock is occuring at shifts?

I think there is no definite answer to this. Every car is different. I have a TE-60 and I got as high as 18 with no knock. This was with the alky kit pump turned all the way up. Of course, I had a race chip in...the one in my sig. If I had my MM street chip in I could have gone in the 20s. The only thing you can do is start low and work your way up. I started at 15 and went up to 18. I may be able to go higher, but with it raining I haven't had many days to experiment. Sorry clamps from Advance Auto let my hose blow off too so until I get the better clamps I'll just have to wait to see how high I can go with my 30 degree chip.

Well, I haven't had time to take it back to the track. The first time I took it I had all kinds of problems. I couldn't build more than 3 psi on the line. Then as I took off the boost would only go to 5 psi and stay there 'til the middle of second gear. About halfway through second the boost would come on and it would take off. Even worse I found out the next day I was letting off way before the 1/4 mile mark... my speed DROPPED as much as 20 mph between the 1/8 mark and the 1/4 mark. Even with all those problems I still managed mid 14s to low 15s. When I get a helmet I'll take it back and see what she'll do with a full run of 18 psi.

If you were running 24psi on the stock turbo before it is no wonder you were getting knock. It is not efficient above 22psi.

Start at about 20psi and work your way up from there

That is a lot of boost for a stock turbo. Could it be the alchy is helping that much?

Maybe I need to start another post "Do we need fancy turbos and sich?" :)

Seriously it would be interesting to see if you get any actual gain from the extra boost or not. Lots of people go faster with lower boost. With alchy and pump gas (and alum heads), Dennis Hogan went 10.99 . That is one example with alum heads, there arte others...

Like Bob said you should see what time you get at 20*, and work up from there. More boost isn't nescessarily more power...
