Happy Thanksgiving to all,

It getting to that time of year where I am getting the itch to make the ol' GN a little faster. Last time out I got an 11.63 out of her @ 115.7 and backed it up with an 11.60 @ 116.2. That was with 110 fuel for an error of margin. Below are the the mods.

turbotweak alky chip timing 24/23
SMC alky kit
009 injectors
RJC power plate
CAS front mount
te-62
3 inch dp with dump open
29.5 x 9 inch slicks
3200 convertor and 3.42'

O2's were 750 on the scanmaster no knock at 24lbs alky on full spray. I am wondering if I can get an 11.30 out of her if I richen up the fuel through the chip. I have the fp @ 49lbs with line off. 60 ft on 11.60 run was 1.62 at 6lbs lauch. Great day for racing 62 degrees humidity 60% no wind.

I'd be surprised if you picked up anything by richening the mixture. It's difficult to tell by a narrow band O2 reading, but you're right where the cars usually like it in the 700-750 mV range. You might try it and see what happens. You still have a lot of turbo left. My last car had a TA62 and went 124 mph at 30 lbs of boost on an unopened engine. Turn up the boost 1 lb at a time. Try to keep the O2 in the 700-750 mV range at WOT. If you get any knock, turn up the alky. Good Luck.

O2's are crashing. You need to setup your fuel pressure to obtain proper BL numbers. Not jack the regulator up.

Looks like fuel issue, injector duty cycle, fuel pump/filter, regulator, chip, etc. If it gets knock add alcohol.

I target 770-780 on pump gas + alcohol.

Please explain BL #'s. I do not understand. Without touching anything and at Idle my BL's are where you stated they should be in you akly tuning guide. Like I said I have no Idea what BL # are. Please explain and how do you tune it.

Thank you

Razor,

I now understand BLM's. I am assuming I adjust this throught the Turbo tweak chip. Am I correct in this assumption? The chip version that I have allows me to richen my fuel by 10%. Should I try this to see if it will richen up. I personally feel that I have maxed out my 009's. What do you think? I have an XP pump and have been told that this pump is enough for high 10s. What is your opinion.

thanks again.

BL=long term fueling adjustment. Basically the ecm sees a signal from your O2.. it then see's if the car is rich or lean and adds/removes fuel to get the O2's where they need to be.

If the BL is higher than 128 then the ecm is adding fuel, meaning its lean. And if its lower than 128.. then its pulling out fuel. 128 is the center line for fueling adjustments. Typically I shoot for +-10 from 128 at idle and off idle/cruising. This lets me know the ecm is adjusting properly.

Now you jack the fuel pressure from 43 to 49 and all the numbers go down hard. Thus moving all the tables down.

If you need more fuel into the motor, you increase the opening time on the injector.. aka.. injector duty cycle. Not increase fuel pressure. On adjustable chips, you can do this by placing the chip into program mode and adding numbers. Sometimes you need even more numbers than whats afforded.. you contact your chip vendor.. he makes you a new chip with even more injector DC.. and you keep moving forward. There are limits how far you can adjust on an adjustable chip.

But if your pump is bad, kind in the line, clogged fuel filter, etc.. no amount of increased injector opening will fix a leaning out condition. This is where datalogging fuel pressure pays off, or watching a big fuel pressure guage taped to the winshield.. pressure stays up.. pump is doing its job.

I dont care what pump or how old it is.. mechanical items fail.

Almost forgot..

If you set your pressure at 50 line off, you'll be running your fuel pump at 75 PSI at 25 PSi boost. Most pumps dont behave well that high of pressure.

Set it to 40-42 PSI.. now your at 65-67 PSI at 25 PSI boost.

I have not touched my fuel pressure once on my car this whole year. ;)
