I just got back from lowes... my heater will be operable again for the mere sum of $7.62
you see.. i have a hotair car and i havent EVER had a heater that worked consistently and reliably.
The reason? That god forsaken vacuum operated valve.. its RIGHT behind the turbo and for some reason they only last a few months and then they freeze up and either i always have heat or i dont have heat or i have luke warm air... so i go outside and have to manually try to move it.
the fix? a manual ball valve from lowes! about six bucks..
also a pain in the ass on hotair cars... the two huge loops of heater hose that hug the firewall... its the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen a car company put into a production vehicle.. you literally have two 2.5 ft long pieces of heater hose hangin around back there.. and if you dont get them situated juuuust right, they collapse...
the fix? some 90* elbows jb-welded together to form a U! fifty cents!
my cold air kit is pvc pipe, a 90* elbow, and some rubber connectors... works great and with a coat of paint you'd never know what it was made from.... cost.. a little under $14. oh.. and contrary to what some might tell you... pvc will NOT melt and/or catch on fire and burn your car to the ground.
etc...etc... it all works better than factory, it was cheaper than factory, and all it took was a trip to the hardware store and a brainstorming session... i know i'm not the only one that's looked at a certain part on his buick and gone "how can i make this actually WORK?"
so.. how about it guys? are you down with JYP or are you a 100% factory man?
