How much rpm will the transbrake allow with a 3200 converter?

I have a 9" 3200 Art Carr converter and I just got my transbrake installed today. Before I fry something can someone tell me how high the RPMs will spool up with the transbrake on. I did one little test by slowing laying into the throttle and it hit about 3800 RPM before I let off the pedal. My boost was at about 10-15psi.

Will the engine redline if I mash it with the transbrake on or will the converter keep the RPMs below a certain point?

I know about the transmission heating up with the transbrake, I'm installing a temp gauge this weekend for it as well.

I'd be careful. The heat builds so fast... many can break real quick.....

As far as RPM the motor will stop at..... who knows... it depends alot on the converter.... the torque input.... and how well the converter couples past the stall speed. IMHO the answer is impossible to predict accurately.

Usually you can get 200-400 easily. More stall the harder you push it.
You can go to WOT with the brake, but is best to keep it 5-10 psi and lower rpm. This depends ontrack conditions as well. On a very good track you could launch it harder on slicks.

Keep time on the brake to 3-5 seconds tops if you can.

I've got the same AC conv with trans.

The higher your engine HP, the higher you can stall, or flash your conv. My car makes 454 RWHP and 460 TQ. I leave the line at 4200 RPMs, and 5 lbs boost. Trans brake is great at the track, but (on my car) is worthless on the street. Are you going on the Point Fermin - Dana Pt cruz on Saterday (see So Western sec)? If so, I'll have my laptop with me. I can show you my Derrect scan data.

Note: My car runs 11.17 @122 with a 1.50 60ft.

Your answer to your question is when the input shaft sheers off. the trans brake locks low and reverse at the same time... that's it.. RPM is a function of toqure and oil sheer.
AS for heating up the oil, by the time you can see it, your oil will be smoke in the converter, unless you modify the hole in the input shaft, and modify the seal-ring on the front pump, they puke it out. play it safe, watch your 60 foot times, when you slow down, you have pushed it there. matt
