How much trans fluid?

I am changing filter/fluid and I have added six quarts of fluid but I still don't see any fluid on the dipstick. Is this right? The owner's manual said you only need 3.5 quarts. I did let the fluid drain out overnight, if that matters.

3.5 quarts? Probably took about 8.5. Am I close?

It took eight quarts to 'full' and I added another 1/2 quart for a total of 8.5 quarts. Nordbert, you are right on. Sorry, no prize.
