Converting to E85. I have everything but not sure once I switch how the car will be. Don't have
wideband and I guess I am just wondering how well the car will run. Has anyone shown any knock
when switched over. Should I just get another chip for race gas? Don't know what all problems I could
face other than overloading the return fuel line. I am curious what others have experienced. Going to Buick vs. Ford in oct. and want to be running with not a problem and don't have time or money for tuning.

If your asking that question you probably shouldn't be converting. If you have done your research you would know right of the bat you will be burning 30% more fuel right of the bat. A chip might get you close but like everything else their is always tunning involve

Get a chip burned for e85. That will get you driving around. Tuning may be needed after, like any aftermarket chip and new combo.

well I have a chip for E85 I just didn't know if it was possible to run down a track when converted over. Wasn't sure if there would be a difference between race gas set up or E85.
Want to be able to run wot with no knock issues. I know I will be burning 30percent more fuel.

Todays chips are almost dead on.
I would turn DOWN the boost and make some test runs and if the O2 and KR look good add a touch more boost until you get to the level that you want to be at.

The only thing i would change right away is the top gear WOT timing i would bring that down to 18* and play from there.

ok thanks. that was more of the info I was looking for. Right now I am running 24 with alky and starts to see small degree but nothing recorded on scan master. I am thinking
more I am in it more likely detonation. Before I had this car I knew nothing about tuning, now I know very little. lol. Oh and I am running a precision 62/62.

That turbo seems to be the turbo of the hour -- lots of people using it and making big power with it.
i would take it real slow with the tuning process a little KR at higher HP can end up doing a lot of damage.
BTW you are going to love E85
the only problem i have with E85 is how fast it goes and it doesn't help with me going WOT every chance i get.

But if you don't have any way to monitor it then it's a shot it the dark. You said you didn't have a wideband and that's asking for trouble if you don't know if your lean or rich.

I don't know if it's just me but I don't think you can even tune these cars on an O2 setting. On the scan master, my car won't read the O2s correctly at wot. It gives funky readings like .034 with no knock and fp set a a rich 50-55psi. I am under the impression that our non heated factory 02 sensors can't pick up the colder exhaust gasses from the burning of E85. Again that is why a wideband is necessary. Just make sure that you get one that is e85 compatible and have it set accordingly. Then when you have that figured out, you can show me how to do it cause I'm new to widebands also:)
