A stock engine in good condition will take a beating if you don't detonate the the engine. All my driving for the past 3 years has been WOT 1/4 passes on a stock engine. This STOCK engine has propelled my GN to low 11's and occasional 10 second runs without fail.

14psi is way too low for oil pressure at cruising rpm. If you don't have 35-40 +psi your engine won't live long. Find and fix the problem. These engines are designed to run with tight clearances. Get the factory recommended clearances set right and this little V6 will pay you back big time.

Run the best gas you can find, run a knock gauge, scanmaster, or something to let you know if detonation is occurring and turn the boost up!

These cars were made to be driven hard and their reputation is well earned.

OH man no, that reading is idle psi at 650RPM after running upa 3 to 4 mile hill and letting it idle. cruising PSI at 2000 RPM is 42 or so. If it were 14 then i would have pulled it out by now. i maintain it and have alll the fuel system components necessary, regulator, fuel pump, filter, injectors, guage, etc. It runs really strong, i was just afraid of hurting it every time gettin on it, even without knock. Im gonna turn my boost up some soon as long as i have no knock and ill be in it quite a bit im sure from now on out. sounds like i dont have anything to worry about (except detonation/knock of course). thanks for the replys guys i feel much better about what we put these things through.

get in the car....let it warm up...then the guage moves all the time:p ahhh why else would ya have this car

That's the reason I bought the car.

Plus it helps me relive stress. That's at least what I keep telling myself. My name pretty much sums it up.

Happy to boost all the time.

My car has not been babied.....Ever.... Well, driving late at night and in view of local police, maybe just a bit. Everyone that I have ever given a ride in my "T" has been impressed w/ the "little 6 that could". My neighbors think the whistling is cool. In fact, I tend to remind them daily of my Buick's special qualities.
HAMMER IT TO FIT, PAINT IT TO MATCH!

Daily ride, I can actually go a while without WOTing it, but I do squeeze on it daily, <10psi leaving a light, etc. Mostly because of the crappy gas around here......Im stuck on 13-14psi, and still get some KR at times.

GN, when I used to drive it a lot:rolleyes: , I was all over it, and always will be...........:D

I just jumped off the interstate where I went full throttle over one dozen times starting at about 55 mph. I was just testing and watching my scanmaster. I did give it a break for about 3 minutes in between bursts. highest KR was 3.0. the rest were around 1.6 -2.4. on 93 octane with a street thrasher that spikes to 20 pounds then eases down to 17. Car ran beautifully.

Oh!! alright then.

Boost set at 20# (at the moment:D) 100 octane (Again!) no knock (Again!!) 91 octane sucks:mad: plain and simple. Use 100 and just get on it oh-say...a little less:eek: i dont know about that one.
