I want to sell my turbo but want to be honest about the sale. I know enough to check the turbine and compressor blades for pits and fractures but how do I check for shaft play and anything else of concern?

How much should the blades keep spinning when you spin it by hand and take your hand off?

I got a used turbo and it looks pretty good, I don't think its been off the guys car for super long but when I spin it by hand, once I take my hand off the blades stop spinning. It has no shaft play at all which I understand is a good sign.

Shaft play is measurable with a dial indicator. Obvious signs of problems are wheel contact or in imbalance noise on use is another indicator of a problem. There's no easy way to determine the condition of the internal components without disassembly.

You got my pictures, what do you think?

I just got it shipped to me today.

The compressor made contact with the housing. That isn't good
