Hello Turbo enthusiats,

I have something to tell and ask at the same time. I try to keep it very short. Today I went to Maryland (I'm from Chesapeake, VA) to see a Buick Regal Limited Turbo that was for sale for $4500. Any how when I got there it was love at first sight:smile: I started to talk to the previous owner and he told me that he didn't know much about cars that all he new that the car is valuable and that needed a new alternator and battery. So I bought the required parts in preparation to bring the new baby home. To my surprise the alternator was good, the battery needed a charge (I got a new a better one anyway) and there it was the beautiful hissing sound of the turbo. As I was listnening and inspecting the vehicle I was hearing another hissing sound that was preventing the vehicle to stay on. It was a small vacuum leak!!! All this time the previous owner thought that the alternator/battery was bad. The car has been sitting for over 2 yrs under covers.

So here it is a car with no rust, a stock engine with the exception of the valve cover breather and the air filter (K&N). The transmission is not stock and here is my first question; how do I find out what type of transmission I have; and second when I drive the car at a normal/slow speed (approx. 25 MPH) the car pulls hard sometimes the tires spin in second gear. Now when I drive it hard is pretty smooth/normal to me (no hard pulling). At first I thought it needed transmission fluid and indeed it did needed some. But the didn't take care of it. The previous owner told that it had a racing transmission (again he didn't know) and that's why the car pulled that way.

Anyhow, the car is great overall, the paint is good the top do not leak and it runs strong. I thing a good tune up will definitely will do the trick. However, the transmission is my main concern. To finish my story, after getting the car started I had my friend test drive it and he telling my friend that he was thinking in keeping it and my buddy told that I after I took the time to go to MD, that it was not fair for me to not come up with a deal. At the end I bought the car for $4000 and left him crying. That's what happen when you don't take the time to research and learn about your vehicle. Now the car has a new home and a fresh start.

Anyhow, if anyone can help me with my trasmission question/concern it will be greatly appreciated.

German

P.S.

The car has no maintenance records and CARFAX shows a clean titile, etc.
