I've seen where it says to look for pink paint and BR but I don't see it on mine. The only letters/numbers I see are 4203 D-1 with a wheel shape between the 3 and D and a large Y with AG right after it. It also has the number 104 on it. Can anyone tell me if this is an actual BRF valve body by these numbers?

Does anybody have a BRF body lying around that they can give the numbers off of? I just want to make sure this is a BRF before having it installed. I also want to get my money back if this is not a real BRF body. Thanks.

Another quick identifier is the presence of a single-prong, third clutch switch on the side of the valve body. I don't believe that any other models used that location.

Also, there are small numbers/letters stamped on the ends of the aluminum throttle-valve sleeves. They are as follows:

1986-'87 BRF
  • 1-2 TV - #15
  • 2-3 TV - #21
  • 3-4 TV - F

1984-'85 BQ
  • 1-2 TV - #15
  • 2-3 TV - #19
  • 3-4 TV - F
I got this info from another thread on this board where someone asked the same question.

I guess I found those numbers. I found the number 15 but the other number is 14 and the letter is T, not F. I found the third gear single prong switch on the side though so this is still confusing.

Well, according to the thread from which I posted that info above, the BRF/BQ were not the only ones with the third pressure switch, the other perfomance VB's had it as well. Maybe one of the guru's, Chris or Bruce, or someone, may post and be able to identify what yours is by the numbers on the TV sleeves since it doesn't exactly match the posted info for a BR/BQ vb.

Anyway, the thread I got the info from is:
