I purchased a nw trunk lock cylinder without instructions. My trunk doesn't have a power trunk release. What's the step by step procedure to remove and replacing the trunk lock cylinder?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you have to remove a clip that holds the lock in place. Open the trunk and look under the cover, near the edge in the center you shoulsd see the clip I'm referring to which is riveted there. I guess you'll have to drill out the rivet to remove the clip, but once the clip removed (I'm guessing here) you should be able to pull out the lock.
(Something that might be helpful is that when you look inside the trunk cover, you can see the lock mechanism, so at least, you can see what you're doing).
Hope this helps...

THere are three bolts
11mm ??? or 13mm take the latch off the car. This will give you access to the lock the clip should come off with the help of a long flat head screwdriver. Slide the old lock out the new lock should have came with a new rubber gasket put that on and the stalk that extends to the latch. Put the clip back on and line up the latch with the stalk and bolt the latch back in. Make sure its making contact with the latch before you close the trunk, try the key make sure it moves. I locked my trunk before with my tools in there and went back to open the trunk with the key and the stem came out of the latch. I had to take the rear seats out to get into the trunk and open it. SUCKED. I have since went to an electric opener and shaved the lock off.

Thanks for the replies and your expertise. I'm still somewhat bewildered. I wish their was a picture or schematic (exploded view) and a step by step process to remove this. Wished I had a service manual or even a threa:confused:d that showed pics on how this is done.

I'll check and see if I still have pictures. I did this about a year ago and was suprised how simple is was.
Although I do not remember unbolting anything as suggested? If my memory serves me right (I will admit, it's failed me before), there was a small black pin that needed to be popped out while the trunck was open and it held the retaining clip that held the whole cylinder assembly in place. I pulled the cylinder out, swapped the shaft from one to the other, and reinstalled it (with new gasket). And all has been well since.
I do think I have some pictures but it might take me a day or two to find them.
Let me know if you still need them.

open decklid , look under neath where the lock is ..theres a clip riveted on ...drill the rivet , pull the clip down , pull out the lock cylinder and arm , attach the arm to the new cylinder slide it in and replace the clip , you can rivet or just find a small screw and screw it in

now if you decklid is locked you can get in from the rear seat but its not fun
, i dont remove the latch as stephan detailed , without remote deck release theres a tab that just needs to be flipped to get at the release pawl flip the pawl just as a power latch does , and the lock will open

or if you're replacing the locks a cordless drill from outside works good, dont try to remove the cylinder with the drill just drill enough to unlock
