Need a "how to" from anyone who has removed turn signal stalk with cruise control/intermittent wiper control and replaced with new one for an '87 GN.

Thanks

If I remember correctly from doing mine, you push it in (towards the column) and turn counter clockwise and pull out??? or something very similar to that
Should pop right out. Very easy.

I'd be curious too. Mine is completely worn and some of the wiper settings don't work. Left turn signal doesn't auto cancel either.

Keep in mind if you have cruise control, there's a connector in there too. Mine didn't so it pulled right out and went right back in

The stalk pulls straight out. Before you do so, find the connector for it under the dash, it is a small flat unusual looking one. Disconnect it and tie a string to it. As you pull the wire up through the column the string will follow.

Now tie the string to the connector on the new stalk. Feed the connector/wire down the column while gently pulling on the string. Push new stalk back into the column, remove string, reconnect connector, done.

You will need to remove some of the steering column guts to get the Cruise wire to feed through. It's a much easier job with the column out of the car. I'll tell you now the wire does not just slide through unless you take the plate out(that piece with all the fins on it)
I've done this on both cars the first one I did not remove the plate and almost broke the connector trying to get it through.

I assume this is the only way to replace whatever inside the column is affecting my left auto cancel?

There should be a few write ups on opening it all up. Not too hard to do. You can rent the tool at a local parts store- makes it much easier.
Once it's open you can do the stalk swap way easier.
