How to remove the rearends c clips

I want to remove the rear axles.I pulled the 5/16 head bolt out of the posi unit but I cant get the little pin that seems to be stuck in the large pan that needs to be removed so I can push the axles in.A magnet wont grab it.HELP!!!!

odds are if you cant move the pin its because you have a broken retainer bolt , what you took out should have a long thin tip on it

it usually breaks leaving the last thread attached to the thin tip
napa has a drill bit extractor kit to remove it or you can try using a sharp pick and rotate it out

Thanks for the responce..I just came in to post what I found and found your post.Yes mine was broken and spun it out with a dental pick.I washed the heck out of it to delute the gear lube.She then spun really easy.Thanks again Dan
