I have a thread going in the Tech area asking about if I should do a top engine clean from GM or should I just wait for my alky kit and let that take care of the carbon buildup in my motor? Does the alky dissolve the carbon or something so it doesn't go out my turbo? I am asking because I get knock at 13lbs of boost on 93 pump gas and throttle response is just kinda sluggish...I think it's all those years of the carbon buildup in my motor and I haven't cleaned it out yet.

Also I have ran race gas numerous times so I think there's a lot of lead in the motor too.

I would do the top engine clean first with 2 cans.

Then use the alky. as maintenance cleaning.

Both my cars were done that way.

Perfect

My head gasket went between cylinder 5 & 6 and there was a slight line crack in 2 cylinder this was not from the head gasket so I bought a new one and got a 5 angle valve job with exhaust porting in the cylinder head and exhaust manifold to match the gasket.

Here is a picture of my old cylinder head with the new one and you can clearly see the 4 cylinder exhaust ports are perfectly clean no deposits and in the combustion chamber on the valves there was also no deposits on the valves stems.

You dont need any other clearner when you run water injection setup. It will steam clean your compustion chamber and valves.

You may only need to use a fuel injector cleaner for the injectors.

My currenty setup is 40-45/60-55 methanol/water from Aquamist.

Damm you can't post pics here sorry.

Pictures

I up loaded some pictures under Auto Pictures of the old cylinder head and how clean the exhaust ports were.

By the way the all valves were very clean No carbon deposits on any of the valve stems.

Especially the exhaust the were like brand new completely clean down to the metal.

So water injection does work very well.
