I hear that a stock 87 GN had 285 hp. I am wondering what it is with the EPA mandated chip?

If I put in a new modern chip, what will the hp be?

If I put in a new chip and fuel pump with new wire, what should I expect?

I have seen many suggestions of what to install, but not an answer with expected hp and never an answer with hp per dollar.

What other small changes would you recommend?

Only Kenne-Bell can tell you how much HP each mod will create.....

That was an inside joke by the way. You had to be around these cars in the 80's to appreciate that one.

There really are no set values. These cars react so differently from car to car and mod to mod.

If the new chip has a more aggressive fuel timing curve and 1-2lbs more boost and everything is tuned perfect I would expect the number to be closer to 300HP at the flywheel.

thank you

I bought a new one in Feb 87. I used it like any daily driver and wore it out.

It never occured to me to hot rod it at the time as it was way fast enough.
